About AskKids

AskKids is dedicated to providing a revolutionary mobile app that enables children to express themselves through various mediums like voice recordings and images. Our focus is on empowering children's independent participation in surveys and questionnaires to capture the voices of the younger generation.

Child-friendly surveys deployed by Save the Children

Save the Children (STC) is dedicated to giving all children the best possible future: a healthy start in life, opportunities to learn, and protection from harm — every day and especially in times of crisis.

To achieve this, STC needs reliable, direct information about children's real needs. However, children often hesitate to share their thoughts with unfamiliar adults.

To address this challenge, Save the Children collaborated with the Poimapper team to create a child-friendly survey tool. This app presents questions visually and with audio, making it accessible even to children with limited reading or writing skills.

How it Works

  • At the start of each survey, children choose whether to answer by writing or speaking.

  • The app then adapts automatically, showing text fields or audio buttons based on the choice.

  • To keep things simple, each page displays only one question at a time.

  • Choice questions are limited to at most six options, each illustrated with an image or sound.

During the survey, a mobile tablet or smartphone is passed among children — for example, in a classroom setting. Each child answers independently. After each response, the app uploads the data and returns to the start, ready for the next participant.

Proven in the Field

Organizations working with children have found AskKids to be engaging, effective, and easy to use in real-world settings.

"Using Poimapper to develop our own Children's Voice Survey has been a very positive experience. The platform functions smoothly, and the process has been insightful and engaging. Most importantly, it provides young children with a genuine opportunity to share their perspectives and practice exercising their voice and rights."
